GORHAM — The Androscoggin Ranger District hosted a visitor center open house on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 27, at 300 Glen Road (Route 16) offerings, both inside and outside. Smokey Bear served as the parking lot greeter, and visitors enjoyed the pollinator garden and storybook nature trail. The inside the exhibits include a new wildlife exhibit and refreshed local Civilian Conservation Corps and Dolly Copp historical displays, plus information on the White Mountain National Forest Centennial Year “Peoples Forest.”

District Ranger Jen Barnhart introduced all staff members on hand as well as Forest Supervisor Clare Mendelsohn and Deputy Forest Supervisor Diane Taliaferro. She recognized the importance of community partnerships and the key role played by volunteers.
