CONWAY – With guns drawn, U.S. Marshals Service agents arrested a sex offender at Millbrook Village apartments on Grove Street in North Conway on Thursday.

On Monday, the Sun spoke to Deputy U.S. Marshal Andrew Grillo about the arrest of Jeffrey Gray, 29, of Canaan, at the apartments.

A dozen years ago, I completely forgot to go in for my annual registration update. I

Did my local law enforcement authorities show up in SWAT vehicles, full tactical gear, and with guns drawn?? 😳😯

No, they did not.

Instead, they simply called me on my cell phone, reminded me that I needed to come in to update my information, and helped me schedule an appointment for the next, most convenient date and time.

No hysteria, spectacle or ridiculous shenanigans.

No SWAT team.

No guns drawn.

No officers were even sent to my home.

Just a phone call and assistance provided by a courteous public servant.

The US Marshals are short-handed when it comes to the security protection of government officials and judges. But instead of using Federal resources appropriately, the US Marshals choose spectacles and shenanigans such as this event rather than focusing the resources where they are actually needed.

Every tax-paying citizen should be outraged at this foolishness.

Furthermore, I am certain there are very specific policies for when you approach a suspect or situation in full tactical gear with guns drawn. I have little doubt that this "failure to register" situation meets any of the requisite criteria!!
