CONWAY — School boards across SAU 9 were stunned on Monday when Superintendent Aimee Frechette alerted them of potentially “catastrophic” news regarding school staff health insurance premiums. Because of pending Senate Bill 297, the district's health insurance providers — New Hampshire Interlock Trust — are raising the rates by almost 40 percent.

In Conway’s case, it would mean a $3 million increase to the operating budget.
