JACKSON — One-hundred-and-ninety-five years of living history were celebrated by Jackson residents last Saturday, complete with balloons, a giant birthday cake, governmental proclamations and even a trombone serenade of “Happy Birthday” as everyone sang along on what Jackson selectmen proclaimed as “Warren Schomaker Day.”

Those gathered at the Jackson Historical Society — once the Jackson Town Hall — were there to pay tribute to historical society icons Alice Pepper, 95 (she’ll turn 96 on June 19), and Schomaker, who turned 100 that day.
