CONWAY — Could the so-called western portion of the Conway Main Street project start in 2020? That might be overly optimistic, say town and state officials. But in a best-case scenario, it is possible.

According to New Hampshire Department of Transportation Project Engineer Kevin Russell, who was one of a dozen town, state and federal officials who joined Town Engineer Paul DegliAngeli on a tour of the eastern section of the project, the state may hear back from the Federal Highway Administration by the end of this week about whether the western and eastern Main Street projects can be separated under federal guidelines.
