PORTSMOUTH — A man suspected of killing a woman in Troy overnight was fatally shot by police 100 miles away with a child’s body found in his car after an encounter on the Piscataqua River Bridge at the Portsmouth and Kittery, Maine state line Thursday.

“Early this morning police engaged with the adult male on the bridge in an incident that ended with the male being fatally shot. The Maine Attorney General’s Office is now investigating that officer-involved shooting incident.
