LOVELL, Maine — Despite protests that surrounded such events last year, the Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library in Lovell, Maine, and Conway Public Library both plan to hold drag queen story hours later this month.

Directors at both institutions say they stand firm on their libraries’ role to uphold the First Amendment and to cater to diverse groups.
