FRYEBURG, Maine — Selectmen voted last Thursday to rescind a quit-claim deed to the Fryeburg Historical Society after the organization backtracked on its agreement to take over the former registry of deeds building at 510 Main St.

According to outgoing Town Manager Sharon Jackson, the quit-claim deed didn’t require the society’s signature, and there was no purchase-and-sale agreement.
