CONCORD — The New Hampshire Maple Producers Association (NHMPA) hosted its annual gubernatorial tree-tapping event with Gov. Chris Sununu at Mapletree Farm in Concord on Thursday. Sununu tapped two trees; one using a hand drill, metal taps and metal buckets; and one using a power drill, thin plastic taps and tubing.

For nearly 50 years, the governor’s tree-tapping is the kick-off to N.H. Maple Month, where sugar houses across the state open their doors to educate the public on the Granite State’s rich tradition of maple sugaring.
