CONWAY — Raging winds. White-out conditions. Biting cold. That was the setting in January of 1982 for one of the most harrowing, and tragic, rescue missions to take place on Mount Washington.

Two young climbers from Pennsylvania had gotten lost in a brutal blizzard. A local team of mountain guides set out to find them. One never returned.
