CONWAY — “Courage is a Carroll County Democrat.” That was a popular bumper sticker when state Rep. Tom Buco (D-Conway) first ran for office in 2004. But in the past 22 years, that has all changed.

“My first election was 2004, and when I when I filed to run for office, the Sun ran a picture of me on the front page of the paper and said, ‘Democrat files.’ Didn’t even put my name or anything. It was such a big surprise to everybody,” said Buco, who served from 2004-10 and from 2012 to now.
