CONWAY — Bernard Snyder, the editor of the North Conway Reporter, was covering the influenza epidemic of 1918 before he knew it.

In an Oct. 3 edition of the paper, he ran a story on the death of Nathan W. Pease, the regionally famous photographer who had come to North Conway from Cornish, Maine, six decades before.
