CONWAY — Selectman and Zoning Board of Adjustment Chair John Colbath on Tuesday pushed back against social media claims that the ZBA lacks patriotism after its members last week voted against Camping World’s request to fly a huge American flag. Camping World, which sells RVs and related equipment, is located at 157 East Main St. in Center Conway.

General Manager Bruce MacDonald attended the meeting, telling the ZBA that Camping World wishes to fly an American flag that is larger than the town’s ordinance will allow without a variance.

Patriotism is not related to the size of your flag. Customers don’t go there to buy flags. They go there to buy campers regardless of the flag size.

The entire argument made by Campers World is ridiculous. Patriotism is adherence to the rule of law…, just as the board did!

Doesnt anyone see the hidden agenda.

135 feet is very close to cell tower hieght.

In many other states where they dont care so much about beauty and views cell towers mascarade as flag poles.

Thank you to the ZBA for doing its job. Hopefully they can do it everywhere above 35 feet.
