The assault victim who asked to be identified only as “Lesley” stands in front of the county courthouse in Ossipee earlier this year. Lesley said that when her attacker, Jason Brockstedt’s one-year jail sentence was suspended after six months, no one from Superior Court or the Carroll County Attorney’s Office contacted her until after he was let out. OSSIPEE — A Carroll County woman says the County Attorney's Office failed to notify her until after her attacker was released from jail after a hearing last month  despite the fact that victims are supposed to be apprised of court actions. Now, the county attorney’s office is asking the judge to reconsider letting the man out.

The woman, who wants to be identified only as Lesley, 30, is also supporting a law to give victims enforceable  rights in criminal cases.
