TAMWORTH — Black bears form alliances with each other that make them more similar to humans than such primates as the great apes.

So said bear expert Dr. Ben Kilham, who spoke during the annual meeting of the Lakes Region Planning Commission held Monday evening at the Preserve at Chocorua.
