TAMWORTH — The drought we've been experiencing this summer is teeing up New Hampshire for large wildfires, a state forest ranger told about 40 people at a talk last Wednesday at the Cook Memorial Library.

Meanwhile, Gov. Kelly Ayotte has issued a ban, in effect until further notice, on open fires, including campfires, the burning of debris or smoking in or near woodlands and on public trails, due to the state's dry conditions.
