TUFTONBORO — This year marks the Abenaki Tower’s 100th birthday.

The original tower in Tuftonboro was formally dedicated and opened to the public on July 12, 1924. That first tower was taken out of service in 1977 due to its condition and the current, second tower was dedicated on July 22, 1978.
