OSSIPEE — Lawmakers on Monday halted installation of two huge wood pellet boilers for the county's new nursing home pending proof that the county commission's had the authority to award a $375,000 bid for the work.

Carroll County's new nursing home, Mountain View Community, was completed in the fall. County commissioners planned to use the old building to house Mountain View Community's wood pellet heating system, laundry and maintenance facilities. The county received $400,000 worth of federal grants for purchasing the boilers and piping the heat from the old building to Mountain View Community. Using the old home to house the boilers was supposedly cheaper than putting the boilers in the new nursing home.
