JACKSON — There may not be a lot of snow thus far this winter, but a talented field of 130 cross-country skiers eagerly toed the starting line for the eighth annual White Mountain Classic 30K race on Saturday at the Jackson Ski Touring Foundation.

On a perfect day for racing, former Dartmouth College standout Nils Koons earned a 24-second victory over former Bowdoin College Nordic ski coach Tim Whiton to take the men's victory while Team USA Orienteering member Alison Crocker skied away from Robyn Anderson for the women's win.
