The Bartlett School Board voted unanimously last week to accept their goals for the 2005-06 school year. The list, which features three prime objectives, was created this fall at an afternoon retreat.The board Nancee Caughey, Rob Clark, Vicki Harlow, Frank Moffatt and Henry Villaume set its No. 1 goal to "continue to be active and instrumental in the pursuit of exemplary 9-12 education opportunities for Bartlett students."The board plans to continue the work to create lines of communication to parents and students of the town in grades 9-12 at Kennett High. It plans to use the following methods:Quarterly reports on Bartlett students at Kennett High School. Bartlett staff collaborating with Kennett High School staff. Phone calls to students and their families on indicators of risk and success. Data collection on patterns of student success and progress. Collaborate with key KHS staff.The board also stated it will "continue to look into and pursue Cooperative Educational Opportunities for Bartlett students."Goal No. 2 is "continue the emphasis on increasing student achievement through the continuous improvement model and by supporting the SAU 9 Goals for 2004-07."The SAU 9 goals are to increase the graduation rate, improve quality learning time, narrow the achievement gaps presented by student achievement data, and improve health and wellness.Goal No. 3 is "continue to demonstrate accountability to the community."The board plans to continue to demonstrate financial responsibility, enhance board members' and community's awareness and knowledge of school programs and general education practices, and maintain open communication via electronics, newsletter and agendas.
