THE MOUNT WASHINGTON Valley this colorful autumn looks like a White Mountain School of Art painting, so as this week’s cover story illustrates, it’s only fitting that despite recent rain and wind that knocked down  some leaves, the brilliance of this year’s foliage display is continuing, and coinciding with the Jackson Historical Society’s 17th annual White Mountain Art Sale and Exhibit.

Friday night’s unveiling of local artist Erik Koeppel’s masterpiece, “Autumn in the White Mountains” — now the largest piece ever of the White Mountain School of Art — was a local cultural landmark.
