Fall foliage brightens our landscape, spreading egg and ketchup colors, reflected in lakes, ponds and rivers. The fall webworm has been casting what appear as nature’s Halloween decorations: tent like webs adorning trees of several species. A particular favorite host appears to be apple trees. My crab apple tree and many conifers are devastated and devoid of leaves I am hoping they will recover.
Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Eastern Slopes thrift store will be holding a Sweater Day on Saturday, Oct. 5. If you would like to spruce up your sweater collection in readiness for the coming winter, this is for you. Stop by the thrift shop located behind the Tamworth farmers' market at 30 Tamworth Road, open Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
