It was a traditional white Christmas, with festive events against a snowy background. This week thousands of trees became encased in ice: beautiful, hazardous and causing outages as branches fell on power lines all around the state. Thanks to our intrepid road crew for keeping our roads safe.

Before you toss your natural Christmas tree , remember that Chocorua Park and Dam’s most brilliant event takes place on Jan. 18, “Light the Night”! Trees, recently decorated and celebrated with family and friends, will be sent off in a conflagration on Chocorua Community Association’s Annual bonfire in the Park, followed by a community pot luck dinner, at nearby Runnells Hall. Trees may be dropped off on the Route 16 side of the park in Chocorua, opposite the post office where the parking spaces end on the southbound side of Route 16. Be sure to remove all the decorations!
