New Hampshire Branch of Taoist Tai Chi Society of the United States is offering new classes in North Conway and Tamworth beginning in January. In North Conway, the beginners class is offered Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. starting Jan. 3 and on Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Classes meet at Eastern Slope Plaza next to Jeanne Limmer Dance Studio. There will also will be a beginners class each Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St.-Andrews-in-the-Valley on Old Route 25 in Tamworth starting Thursday, Jan. 8.Taoist Tai Chi is a gentle art of health and well-being for adults of all ages and health conditions. The series of slow, gentle movements is designed to promote flexibility, balance and general good health. It can help lengthen and strengthen muscles, improve circulation, loosen joints, increase bronchial capacity and oxygen intake, relieve stress and improve concentration.The ancient Taoists were renowned for their study of the arts of health and longevity. The gentle movements of Taoist Tai Chi convey the essence of this tradition to the modern world. Many thousands of people are enjoying the benefits of Taoist Tai Chi practice in approximately 500 locations in 25 countries around the world. The local branch, Taoist Chi Society of America - New Hampshire, has been offering classes in the North Conway area and other locations for over a decade.
