Rev. Robert K. Jones Jr., 85, of Dowling Park, Fla., passed away after a brief illness on April 4, 2005. He was born Jan. 22, 1920, in Boscawen.He was an ordained Methodist Minister, graduating from Waynesburg College in Pennsylvania, and Boston University School of Theology. He served churches in Rockport, Gloucester, Maynard, Sudbury, and Cochituate, Mass., and Portsmouth. Upon retiring, he became a probation officer for the Franklin District Court, while operating his own Radio Shack franchise business in Franklin.He spent many hours involved in community services, including the March of Dimes, Rotary, Boy Scouts, and the Civil Rights Movement, to name a few. For the last eight years, he was a TV news broadcaster for the local news station in Dowling Park.He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Virginia A. Jones; his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Shirley Jones of Madison; his daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and David Lindt of Pleasanton, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Ethel Martorana of Newberry, Fla., and Beverly Jones of Laconia, as well as several nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
