Ralph Elmore Hill, 87, of Ice House Road, Fryeburg, Maine, died April 7, 2006, at the Bridgton Hospital in Bridgton, Maine. Ralph was born in Chatham, the son of Leon and Sarah (Eastman) Hill. He graduated from Fryeburg Academy, class of 1936, and was a World War II Army veteran. Ralph lived in Rockville, Conn., for 29 years, worked for Pratt & Whitney for nine years and worked 20 years for the State of Connecticut in the correctional department. He moved back to Fryeburg in 1980. He was a member of the Fryeburg American Legion and Fryeburg Fish & Game, and a former member of Lake Kezar Country Club. He enjoyed gardening, golf and going to Foxwoods. He was predeceased by a sister, Elsie Small, and is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ruth (Gallagher) Hill of Fryeburg; a sister, Marilyn Bowers of Lincoln, Maine; and several nieces and nephews including Larry, Todd and Jill.At Ralph's request, there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Fryeburg with Rev. Kenneth Turley officiating. Donations may be made in memory of Ralph to the Fryeburg Rescue, P.O. Box 177, Fryeburg, ME 04037. Arrangements are with Wood Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fryeburg.
