The Fryeburg Fish and Game Association, Inc., will sponsor a personal protection course at the basic level on May 13 and 14, taught by Ian Tait, an NRA-certified pistol instructor. Course hours on May 13 will be from 2 to 7 p.m., and on May 14 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Classes will be held at the American Legion hall and all shooting will be done at the Fish and Game Range, Fish and Game Road, off Route 113 just north of Airport Road.Tait is also a certified rifle instructor and personal protection instructor, and taught these courses in Maine and Massachusetts. Safe handling of firearms will be stressed at all times. Loading and unloading, shooting stances and sight pictures will be discussed.A variety of handguns and all ammunition will be provided by Tait and all shooting will be at the Q target (bottle target) at the range of 10 feet.Cost of the course will be $75 for the first member of a family and $65 for each additional family member.
