ALBANY — Tin Mountain Conservation Centers will be presenting Sandy Stott as part of its author series with his book "Critical Hours: Search and Rescue in the White Mountains" on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. at the Nature Learning Center in Albany.

A misread map, a sudden storm, or forgotten headlamp can all turn a leisurely hike into a treacherous endeavor. Stott, writer and editor for AMC’s Appalachia, delivers a history and celebration of the search and rescue workers who battle the elements to save lives in his book "Critical Hours: Search and Rescue in the White Mountains."
