Though we no longer run State Line Football, the dedicated volunteer group who took it over will hold tryouts and registration at the center this week on Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. and Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Volunteer Andy Pepin is the leader once again this year.

With just one week left of summer camp, this week’s honors were bestowed on Friday at assembly. The counselor of the week was Bailey Frost and the camper of the week is Oliver Dean. A big thank you to both of them for being fine examples for all of us. They and the whole camp enjoyed free Ben & Jerry’s on Friday in honor of camp director Dominic Knox’s last day. Thanks Dom for a great summer. We truly couldn’t have done it without you.

This week’s Wednesday field trip is to the always fabulous Funtown in Saco, Maine. First come, first served for the first 50 paid campers.

North Conway Community Center is more than thrilled to have Carrie McLane Burkett on board as our new general manager. Burkett started on Aug. 6, just in time to get to know summer camp and she has an abundance of energy and great ideas, including finally doing the long-promised community interest survey. We want to hear from you how we can be the best community center we can be. Feel free to reach out to Burkett anytime at

Thanks again to New England Ski Museum staffer and camper parent Eric Elam for stepping up to do the mowing and weed whacking.

Fall sports will begin with sign-ups in early September as the youngsters return to school. We no longer have center staff coaches so are on the lookout for parents who want to help coach as this is going to be critical for all youth sports over the coming year. Reach out as soon as possible if you are interested to

We are pleased to report to our many donors that our new solar panels are already generating more than enough electricity for the center’s day-to-day use. As of today, the energy we have saved offers the environmental impact of having planted over 300 trees. Our current electric bill has dropped to less than 6 percent of what it was just one year ago.

For schedule times and changes, go to or our Facebook page which we try to keep up to date. We can’t always get to the phone while programs are underway, or we are busy cleaning, so this is a quick and easy way to get answers to your questions in real time. We are always closed on Sundays except for private groups.

For more information on programs and activities at the center call (603) 356-2096 or email Our web and Facebook pages are also kept up to date with information and are always your best bet for timely updates.
