With great sadness, we announce the passing of Woodward F. Allen on March 25, 2025. He is survived by his sister Charlotte Allen and brother Randy Allen. He was a very accomplished fisherman, drummer (he was John Bonham incarnate) and poet. He could easily play any song that he’d heard on his Ludwig drum set.
Despite carrying the burden of mental illness his entire adult life, he interacted with anyone he met with compassion, understanding and love. Woody’s sense of humor was always present, and he loved to joke with Charlotte and Randy. Woody graduated from Wellesley High School and attended UMass Lowell for a period of time. He always aspired to higher truths and was forever inquisitive about the deeper meanings in life. In his youth he was written up in the local papers about his fishing prowess — he could land a lure under a branch from 75 feet. Woody did learn the cello in his teens, it was during this time that Woody was wearing out the covers of his text books drumming on them that Charlotte purchased him his first drum set, much to our parents' chagrin.
