George W. Fernald Jr. of North Conway died Dec. 1, 2017, at the Merriman House in North Conway, N.H., after his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his nurse Julie, his daughter Joanne Graves, his sister Margaret Drew, his niece Vicki Sheaff, and his nephew James Drew.

Born in North Conway, the son of George and Alice (Talton) Fernald, he had been a lifelong resident of the North Conway area.
