Obituary: Edward Sumner Ellis

Edward Sumner Ellis, 85, of Eaton passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 26, 2026, during a quiet snowstorm, in the place he loved best. In the days before his passing, he was surrounded by family and friends who came to be with him, share stories, and offer their company.

Born in Eaton on March 1, 1940, to Edward and Mary Ellis, Ed was an Eaton boy through and through and remained proud of it all his life. He knew the town, its people, its roads, fields and woods as well as anyone, and there was no place he would rather have been than at home on his own land.
