CONWAY — Memorial Hospital last month became part of a statewide initiative to make Naloxone (Narcan) kits available to anyone requesting one. The program is free to anyone who undergoes training and can indicate an understanding of how to administer the drug. Naloxone is for the reversal of opioid overdose induced by natural or synthetic opioids in the setting of respiratory depression or unresponsiveness.
Since starting distribution of the kits last month, there has been a report of at least one life saved through the use of a Memorial Hospital distributed Narcan kit found at the scene of a drug overdose.
