Irena (Irene) Drake Konkoly, born April 25, 1917, died peacefully Friday, April 28, 2006, at Sunbridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Care in North Conway.Irene was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from Garfield Heights High School in 1935. She went to work with her father in a woolen mill as a bobbin spinner. Shortly after, she took a job in the mill office where she mastered the comptometer (early data/calculator). She stayed home for 15 years to raise her two children; she went to work for Cole National (now Things Remembered) until she retired in 1976.She was an avid reader, talented cook and baker. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends as well as volunteering at the local senior center and RSVP. She was a member of the Miles Park Methodist Church and Middleburg Heights Community Church, Middleburg Heights, Ohio (UCC).She moved to New Hampshire in 2000 to be near her daughter, Karen, and granddaughter, Jennifer. Her husband, Thomas Konkoly, and brother, Edward Drake, predeceased her. She is survived by her son, Thomas H. Konkoly, and his partner, David Soltesz; daughter, Karen Kovach; sister-in-law, Marilou Drake of Bancroft, Ontario, Canada; granddaughter, Jennifer Kovach Condoulis; grandson, Matthew Kovach; son-in-law, David Condoulis, as well as her extended family and friends, including the community she had the last two years of her life at Sunbridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Care in North Conway.There will be a memorial service June 3, 2006, in Cleveland, Ohio. Internment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Gibson Center for Senior Services, c/o Meals On Wheels, P.O.
