ACTS volunteer Nan Ippolito and demo dog Max Jr. meet campers at the MaineHealth Memorial Hospital Health Camp (COURTESY PHOTO)

CONWAY — Since the beginning of the year, the ACTS of Compassion therapy dogs have been actively engaged in schools, hospitals and camps throughout the Mount Washington Valley and surrounding areas, touching the lives of hundreds of children and families.

Local ACTS volunteers Nan Ippolito with Max Jr., Jackie Gaudes with Fig, and Sally Burke with Gertie have been the friendly faces — and wagging tails — behind these visits, helping the community better understand the purpose and impact of service dogs.
