Edna (Lord) Kennard, 84, of Center Ossipee, passed away Monday, April 11, at Sunbridge Care of Wolfeboro.Edna was a native and lifelong resident of Ossipee. She was born on Jan. 25, 1921, in West Ossipee, the daughter of the late John A. and Laura Mae (Knight) Lord. She graduated from the Ossipee High School and later received a bachelor's degree in education from Keene Teachers' College in Keene.After graduating, she taught elementary education in Freedom and Ossipee, and later became principal of Ossipee Elementary School. Edna left Ossipee to teach Title 1 math in the Rochester School System and later served as principal at the McClelland School in Rochester. While working at the McClelland School, she continued her graduate studies at the University of New Hampshire, Durham, before leaving in 1970. Edna continued her teaching in Alton before accepting a position at the Carpenter Elementary School in Wolfeboro. She retired from teaching in June of 1981.Edna loved to play golf and was a past member of the Indian Mound Golf Club in Center Ossipee. Edna was also a member of the Calvin Topliff Chapter 18, O.E.S.She was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin F. Kennard, and their daughter, Laura Kennard. She is survived by her brother, Rolland W. Lord of West Ossipee, her sister, Charlotte Boise of Hooksett, and several nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lord Funeral Home, 50 Moultonville Road, Center Ossipee. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, Route 16B, Center Ossipee. Rev. David Morgan will officiate. Burial will be in the Ossipee Valley Cemetery, West Ossipee.Donations in her memory may be made to the Ossipee Public Library, Center Ossipee, NH 03814, or the Activities Fund at Sunbridge of Wolfeboro, Wolfeboro, NH 03894.
