We all know of the mighty automotive manufacturers. Names like Ford, General Motors, Toyota and Volkswagen are the juggernauts of the car industry, and historically, those who challenged them rarely succeeded. But in years past, when the big three — GM, Ford and Chrysler — reigned supreme in the domestic market, smaller brands coexisted. No threat to the strategy of the kings of cars, these manufacturers filled a smaller niche or presented unconventional designs that were considered folly by industry standards.

These cars became rare over time if for no other reason than their limited production numbers.
