Mercedes-Benz has developed special turquoise colored Automated Driving Marker Lights, that will identify when Drive Pilot is engaged. (COURTESY MERCEDES-BENZ GROUP)

Remember sci-fi movies featuring cyborgs with a blue-green strip of light where the eyes should be, like wraparound sunglasses? Well, get ready: Life is about to imitate art.

No, the cyborgs aren’t coming — I don’t think, but robo-cars are, and it looks like they’ll be identified by bluish-green marker lights when in autonomous driving mode, if the Society of Automotive Engineers new standard is adopted.
