BERLIN – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) will be in Berlin today to cut the ribbon for the new high-efficiency wood pellet boilers at Berlin Housing Authority's Welch apartments at Serenity Circle. The boilers were part of an overall energy efficiency and improvement project through the Berlin BetterBuildings program and the Northern Forest Center's Model Neighborhood program. As a result of this investment, Berlin Housing Authority expects to save $11,000 a year on heating fuel costs. Shaheen is scheduled to be at the site at 2:45 p.m. She will be joined by Mayor Paul Grenier.
