BERLIN — On a voice vote with one councilor dissenting, the city’s fiscal year 2027 budget was approved Monday night, a $57.5 million sum.

The $57,725,395 budget is 1.18 percent higher than the Fiscal Year 2026 budget, or a nearly $700,000 increase. The impact on the tax rate is 95 cents per $1,000 valuation, or $34.55 per $1,000 valuation. The current tax rate is $33.60 per valuation. The state Department of Revenue Administration sets the tax rate in the fall.
