MANCHESTER — With the start of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicting an above-normal hurricane season, Eversource is reminding customers about the importance of preparing and planning for severe weather.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is forecasting up to 25 named storms this season — of those, up to 13 could become hurricanes with winds of 74 mph or higher. The changing climate is increasing the frequency and severity of extreme weather around the globe, including here in New England. Eversource works year-round to strengthen the electric grid through upgrades, maintenance and proactive vegetation management to enhance customer reliability.
