BERLIN — Chicken wing lovers and sauce-slathered rib fanatics found the place to be last Saturday was in Heritage Park for this year’s poultry and pork cook-off.
The Sept. 7 “Wingzilla/Ribzilla” featured eight different contestants with 14 different chicken wing recipes and six different rib recipes, everything from grilled to secret-spiced rubs, and of course, BBQ. At noon, there were 1,075 pounds of wings and 900 pounds of ribs at the Heritage Park site off Main Street in Berlin. Attendees wandered from site to site, depositing blue tickets in the jars of the contestants as to which one rib or wing was best.
