Local artist Sid Dewitt, 83, recently entered an agreement with Salvatore Michaels Inc. to produce an open-edition print of Mount Chocorua in winter.Dewitt was born in Eaton and still lives just south of Conway Village with his wife Beverly.Spending most of his life as a carpenter and logger, Dewitt, a 1941 graduate of Kennett High, has always been artistic, but became more serious about art over the past decade or so. He enjoys painting scenery and architecture, mostly in acrylics. His paintings are known for their rich colors and the memories they evoke of the typical valley bucolic charm. He has painted dozens of notable locations throughout New Hampshire and the valley including Mount Washington, North Conway Village and Mount Chocorua. The relatively new publishing aspect of Salvatore Michaels Inc. is the latest in a series of ventures created by local entrepreneurs Sal Martignetti and Michael Kline. The team was named Entrepreneur of the Year 2005 for launching the Framed Art Superstore, the Met and Soyfire Candle.Martignetti and Kline divide their spare time between outdoor activities, hosting fund-raisers for non-profits, and serving the Mount Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce and Service Corps of Retired Executives."Weve been very lucky in finding terrific local talent for staff as well as artists were proud to feature in our stores," Kline said. The Mount Chocorua print by Dewitt is the seventh local print Salvatore Michaels has invested in. The new 22-by-28-inch print sells for $20 or framed for $49.99 to $79, depending on framing choices, and is available at the Framed Art Superstore and the Gallery at the Met Coffeehouse. The Framed Art Superstore is located in the yellow mall on Route 16 North Conway next to Bellinis restaurant.
