JACKSON — The Friends of the Whitney Community Center will hold an Afternoon with Walt Whitman on Sunday, Feb. 23, from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Whitney Community Center at 16 Black Mountain Road in Jackson.
Walt Whitman was an American poet, journalist and essayist who is considered a central figure in American literature. He is often called the “father of free verse” for his innovative style that broke away from European structures and British-influenced poetry.
