If you receive Loon Preservation Committee’s email newsletter, you can be treated to several webcams they now have installed near some of their nest sites. And the chicks are hatching pretty much on schedule, it seems.

However, the most recent release of the streaming video illustrated a tragic ending to their first loon chick hatched. A bald eagle predated the baby loon after the female loon had successfully outlasted its first encounter with the attacking eagle.
