EATON — Four friends gather to share string quartet music at the Little White Church on Tuesday, August 4, at 7 PM. All four are educators in our community. Together they have some 90 years of experience bringing music to student musicians in our seven-town universe. Chris Nourse, violin; Ethan Chalmers, violin; Ellen Schwindt, viola; and Jenny Huang-Dale, cello, comprise the quartet.

The centerpiece of the program is a set of four pieces by American composer Alan Hovhaness. These pieces evoke dreamy contemplation. At one of our rehearsals Chris called them bagatelles from space. Hovhaness wrote of his music that “my purpose is to create music not for snobs, but for all people; music which is beautiful and healing.”
