This week, I caught up on movies I’ve been meaning to see — “Vice,” “On the Basis of Sex” and “The Kid Who Would Be King.” While these are three very different films, they can be linked through their discussions of leadership.

Writer/director Adam McKay utilizes an approach similar to his “The Big Short” for “Vice,” a look at the rise of Dick Cheney (Christian Bale in an extraordinary performance). As with his Oscar-winning script for “The Big Short,” McKay blends elements of documentary and feature filmmaking.
