FRYEBURG — Following a solid preseason, Fryeburg Academy boys' lacrosse opened the regular season with a 12-6 victory at Freeport on April 12. Head Coach Matt Haley anticipates good things for the 2018 spring season, following a 2017 squad which completed its season with 8 wins, 5 losses and a tournament quarterfinal playoff appearance in the Academy's best season on record.

With four of the five top scorers returning (two tri-captain seniors in Caleb Eklund, 42 goals, 33 assists, 75 points and Evan Carraciola, 24-19-43, and juniors Caleb Bowles, 15-19-34, and Gunnar Gurnis, 19-8-27), the Raiders have plenty of firepower on offense. Eklund leads a strong midfield group and will be counted on to win face-offs with regularity. Bowles will also have increased midfield duties in 2017, with the shoes of graduated Jeremiah Schrader (29-33-62) left to be filled.
