CONWAY — With the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association unveiling new preseason practice guidelines for high school football programs, Kennett High Coach Vaughn Beckwith is glad he has a veteran squad this fall to cope with the loss of prep time.

“It’s been quick,” Beckwith said of the preseason, which started Aug. 13. “The NHIAA shortened the preseason by five days. Fortunately, we have an older group of guys who have handled it well. If we had a young team or a team had a new coach, it might be hard for them. …In two weeks, we’ve had eight practices. If it was a year ago, we’d have had over 20.”
