CONWAY — The Kennett High boys’ basketball team opened 2020 on a winning note and brought home a trophy in the process. The Eagles held Portsmouth Christian Academy scoreless in overtime to win the 41st annual Mike Lee Holiday Basketball Bash 56-46 in Farmington on New Year’s Day last Wednesday. The boys from Conway went 5-0 in the tournament, winning three games in overtime.
“I think these kids just like playing basketball so much that they don’t consider their coach’s blood pressure,” Jack Loynd, Eagles’ head coach, said of his team’s penchant for fantastic finishes. “(Laughing) They like to keep things interesting for the fans and me.”
